Regret of Life: Why did I not follow K-Serials?

I had a nice little telephonic conversation with my friend yesterday. Or rather, it was nice for the first thirty odd minutes. Then, she tells me about Koffee with Karan, and the guests that are supposed to make their appearances this week. Floodgates Open.

“Ekta Kapoor”, she says. I say ok. So far so good. (or, so bad, whichever way you look at it)

Then, she nonchalantly adds, “Along with Rishabh Bajaj.”

I wait for an explanation.

She adds, “and there is XYZ as well.” She names another name, which means nothing to me.

I am still waiting for an explanation for the first one. Rishabh whoever.

Finally, after a pregnant pause of 30 seconds, I say, Rishabh who?

“Arre”, she sounds irritated, “Rishabh Bajaj, from Kausati Zindagi Ki.”

Oh ok. I thought he was some relative of Jamnalal Bajaj and I ought to know him. You know, the MBA connection and all. I express this to her.

“Oh, you mean, you don’t know Rishabh Bajaj from KZK?” She seems horrified. Almost hurt.

I plead my ignorance, but then, our man ain’t Rahul Dravid or a Sunil Shetty that I should know him. Anyways, I press on. “So, what’s his claim to fame, only KZK?”

Pat comes the reply, “Hmmm, plus he is Rohit Roy’s brother.”

Thankfully, I know who Rohit Roy is.

But something else bothers me. Did Rishabh Roy change his surname after marriage? I ponder, “Must be really loving his gal, will I ever be able to do such a thing for my gal?”

I ask my friend innocently, “Oh, you mean, they are cousins?”

My friend is dumb founded, exasperated, horrified, shocked and puzzled, all at once.

She replies, “No, they are real brothers. You haven’t even heard of Ronit Roy?”

I am slow to grasp things alrite, but, where on earth did Ronit Roy come from? I knew for sure, he is Rohit Roy’s brother, but now, I wonder.

“Yes, I have. He is Rohit Roy’s brother, isn’t he?”, I ask, a bit groggily.

“Obviously! And he is Rishabh Bajaj!!!”

So, now we have Ronit Roy, who likes to call himself Rishabh Bajaj for some weird reason which I obviously do not realise, but I am expected to. I stare blankly into the Telephone.

“So, you mean, like, Shivaji Rao Gaekwad became Rajnikanth, and Yousouf Khan became Dilip Kumar, Ronit Roy becomes Rishabh Bajaj…good, nice try”. I basically try to get back, by showing off my knowledge.

Silence.

Long Silence.

“You there?”

“No, you moron, Rishabh Bajaj is the name of Ronit Roy’s character in KZK.”

Ok. How could I not know that.

I so feel like asking her the captain of Ireland’s Cricket Team. Asking what was Aminul Islam’s claim to fame. And, about Shane Warne’s 2nd daughter’s name.(which I do not know as well)

Instead, I keep quiet. I apologise for being so ignorant.

And I do something else. Google on Mr. Rishabh Bajaj.

Wikipidea has an entry. On Rishabh Bajaj. With a description on the same. Read this

How could I not know. I wonder.

I have been reading too much cricket. And share market. High time priorities change.

Damn.

Rishabh Bajaj is the hottest dude ever shown on Indian Television. He is every girl's dream..how can u write such things about him..
Watch some episode of kasauti to see how great Ronit Roy's work is, and then comment.

Well Well....U seem to be getting some criticism for ur article this time...the positive side...atleast u now know that apart from me , there r others who read ur articles. but now something tells me dat u have lost one of ur readers!!!
anyways..I never thought that ppl consider Rishabh Bajaj THAT Hot!!i am not as ignorant as u with the characters...but u got to admit...that guy is more famous as Rishabh Bajaj than as Ronit Roy!!
anyways..I had an amazing time reading ur article. Love the way u explain it...am sure there was a lot of exaggeration...but it sure makes me smile! - CP

@anonymous: He may be the hottest, havent denied that in my post. Nor have I written "such things" about him. But, then admittedly, I did not know Rishabh Bajaj till before the convo.!
And talking of watching some episodes of Kasauti, "Animal Planet" is a better option for me buddy.

@nyasa: Tum bhi same cheez! glued to Star Plus it seems! Yaar, tum logon ke comments dekhke mujhe bahut clarity mil gayee...
but waise, on second thoughts, would like to watch Koffee with Karan this week!

@cp: Criticism is good, and yeah, there are some who actually read stuff I write! Nice hai!
Reading Wikipidea, I think I need to agree, he seems to be more famous as RB than RR himself.
And, thanks for all ur compliments, I think you are too kind...:-)

I have many points to make.
1. You %$$%%£^ . How dare you use Animal Planet in a derogatory way! U of all the people should appreciate it, considering you will be ON it some day!
2. The crack bout Jamnalal Bajaj was funny.
3. I also am shocked that you can write such things bout anybody. And seeing your level of ignorance, I am sure you do not know the name of the cousin of my neighbour's son-in-law.
4.Rishabh Bajaj is ok and not all that hot. I think Mihir Virani is hotter. You might call it weird, considering they are both played by the same character.
Thanks & Regards.

Great blog entry dude..
Trust me - my girlfriend watched the same episode and she told me how much she liked Rishabh Bajaj .. LOL

And I was like - HUH ?
She even managed to make me watch an episode of Ronit Roy - not as Rishabh Bajaj but as some Mr.Deb on Zee TV..

He's pretty good :)

K Serials seem to have the same tragedies with different set of actors... so it hardly matters whether it is Rishabh or Ronit or Rohit. If u watch 1 episode u can tune in netime to follow..So a regret Suneer..NAAAHHHHHHHHHH
